Also can confirm that Frank Martin is NOT leaving K-State. The goemaw coaching search can be called off.

Steve Dave, I really do wish you would post here more.

If I work hard enough, I will get their post count up to about 25 in no time here.  But, I can save that fun for later.

Please schedule this at least 3 weeks in advance with our administrative assistant (HOT!).  We're awfully busy this time of year.

Report: Martin not finalist at Miami
Cole Manbeck cmanbeck@themercury.com

The search for Miami's new basketball coach has apparently been narrowed down to a few finalists, and one name missing from that list is Kansas State's Frank Martin, the Miami Herald reported Saturday.

According to the Herald, Miami could make a hire as early as Monday or Tuesday, and it is likely the name will come from one of six finalists.

The candidates for the Hurricanes' head coaching position, according to the Herald, are: Alabama Birmingham's Mike Davis, Murray State's Billy Kennedy, Harvard's Tommy Amaker, Richmond's Chris Mooney. Two coaches who are also up for the job are former Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel and former Arkansas coach John Pelphrey. Both were fired from their schools after the 2010-11 season.

WoW they are going for cheap. I'm surprised no one is firing their coach just to hire Butler's Brad Stevens.

I've thought about the same thing but if you're Brad Stevens do you really want to leave Butler?

1. I assume he's comfortable with his salary
2. He's from the Indy area
3. He can win the conference every year and go to the NCAA Tournament every year
4. Once in the tournament you know he can get to the Final Four. He has done it two years in a row. Leaving for a job with a better chance to win it all? No!

This isn't college football where you have to go to certain schools to have a chance to win big.

Former BC coach Al Skinner and Florida Atlantic's Mike Jarvis are the names I'm hearing for Miami right now.

Jeff Capel seems like a good fit for the job and a potential homerun hire to me.
