A&M: Will Miss, Wont Miss
« on: August 31, 2011, 08:58:50 AM »

I will assume they are gone by the end of Sept. A few thoughts...

Will Miss:
--Their Band - Worth staying in my seats for during half time.
--Kyle Field - Enjoyed my experience at the one time I was there.  Place is setup like it should be, good transit in and out, friendly fans, and clean.  Wish I would have experienced the glory day crowds to experience the noise, but this was a few years ago when we won with Freeman.  :Drink:
--Classic of classic rivalries with Texas - From initial comments from Texas's AD, that wont be continuing.  Besides all KSU games, that's my second favorite Big 12 game to watch behind Red River.
--Heckling about men getting men excited during game time. (Yell Leaders)  :palm:
--Color Maroon - My highschool team color was maroon, so I like.
--Reason to enjoy Northgate District - I had a blast.  :D
--People making fun of Texas Tech - No one else talks about them.
Wont Miss:
    --Looking at the Yell Leaders
--Hearing people whine about Texas - IMO A&M had equal chances to become the leader, and leaving conferences doesn't change recruiting out of Texas.  Not like the school is moving or the talent in Texas is diminishing.  If the AD says its a 100 year decision, that's cool, but fans need to remember that they will be dead and for the next 10 years its going to be painful.
--A game against KSU each year were fans remind us of the 98 game.

Will miss:
-- Auto W on the schedule every year :)
-- Kyle Field, minus the bats it was pretty cool
-- Laughing at the yell leaders
-- Common hatred of UT and OU
-- Traditions... as much as I laughed at them, it was pretty cool to have a cult

Won't miss:
-- Hearing about how great they are, even though they haven't done anything in a VERY long time.
-- Watching A&M live at the bottom of the standings in the SEC (greener pastures right?)
-- Bryan Davis... I'm sure he's still flopping on a floor somewhere to this day
 -- Texags

Will miss:
-- The competition, never thought we had an auto W or L. Knew it would be a good game each year
-- The Band. I hate bands, and watching ours cry when they got schooled on our own field by the A&M (ARMY) band is priceless.

Won't miss:
-- The mascout. Seriously what is it? A dog, an Aggie?
-- Corps of Cadets. Again, what's up with the nut grabbing?
-- Story's about people who like Cleveland steamers on their chest. This probably won't stop, but will no longer be associated with a Big 12 team.

Snap, I totally forgot about Texags.  I would actually post that on my Will miss list.  It had one of the biggest melt downs I have ever seen and that was thoroughly fun to watch.  It also talked about other Big 12 schools in their predictions and what not which was sometimes good info.

FWIW, most people at A&M don't like the Corps either, and outside of the cadets that eventually commit to the Armed Forces, they don't garner much respect.

No way, that has to be on your Will Miss list.  I have never laughed so hard in my life.  Literally one of those drinking moments you will never forget.  I thank you A&M fans for having this knowledge to spread.

I edited my original post.  I was speeding through it and listed the corps instead of yell leaders.  I don't have much of a problem with the corps, just a huge prob with the yell leaders.

Quote
The Aggie Yell Leaders have evolved into a team of five upperclassmen, three seniors and two juniors. Student body elections to choose the Aggie Yell Leaders are held annually, and it is not uncommon for more than twice as many students to vote for yell leader candidates than vote in the Student Body President elections.

This is because of something called "block voting". The entire corps rallies around the same 5 people (always in the Corps) and virtually guarantee those individuals will be elected as the yell leaders. No one, not even the corps, gives a shit about the student body elections.
