This is because of something called "block voting". The entire corps rallies around the same 5 people (always in the Corps) and virtually guarantee those individuals will be elected as the yell leaders. No one, not even the corps, gives a shit about the student body elections.

You better hide this from Wagner.  If he heard that student body elections are meh, he would crap himself.
