Miami, a give and take school....
« on: August 19, 2011, 08:37:45 AM »

They gave us Arthur  :Salute: but will they hurt us next year?  :shakingfist:  Here is my concern.  I was looking at all punishments that the NCAA handed SMU with their "death penalty".  No games at all the following year, and only away games the year after that.  No bowl games for a few years and no television appearances for a few years along with a crap load of reduced scholarships.  Point is... I was really looking forward to playing them in MHK next year.  Will we lose out on that game?  :ksuftw:

I doubt that their punishment will hurt other programs too much. Hopefully they will be allowed to play us at Home next year, but won't be allowed to take any of the media money, so it all goes to K-State!

They're looking into the eligibility of 15 players including 3 starters: The QB, a S and a LB.

Looks like Miami could be without QB Jacory Harris, WR Travis Benjamin, 3 of their Top 4 DE's Olivier Vernon, Adewale Ojomo and Marcus Robinson, DT Marcus Forston, LB Sean Spence, CB JoJo Nicolas and S's Vaughn Telemaque and Ray-Ray Armstrong for at least some part of the season.

I was already going to go with 7-8 wins and now I may have to go with 8-9 wins!

The suspensions are in: DE Olivier Vernon will sit out six games (including the Cats game), S Ray Ray Armstrong and TE Dyron Dye will miss four games (including the Cats game). QB Jacory Harris, LB Sean Spence, WR Travis Benjamin, DT Marcus Forston and DE Adewale Ojomo will only miss one game and will, of course, all play against KSU. DE Marcus Robinson was cleared of any wrongdoing.

The moral of the story: If you play at one of the big name schools, the NCAA will slap you on the wrist.

Quote
The NCAA announced findings Tuesday that 12 current Miami football players accepted extra benefits from booster Nevin Shapiro and suspended eight athletes for between one and six games.

Four other players must simply repay the amount of the benefits they received and will be eligible for the Hurricanes season opener Monday at Maryland.

This is bullshit! Pullen and Kelly take >$500 of goods and get a 3 and 6 game suspension. These player, party of one of the largest booster scandalsls in history, get to "pay it back".

NCAA IS A JOKE!
