 Oklahoman     0 Published: April 18, 2011

Kansas State
• 2010 record: 7-6, 3-5

Big 12 spring football review: Kansas State • Spring news: The Wildcats are experimenting with the 4-3 defense. K-State’s run defense struggled last season in a 4-2-5 scheme. ... Brothers Bryce (RB) and Arthur Brown (LB) are eligible. Bryce transferred from Tennessee. Arthur transferred from Miami. Both were highly ranked coming of high school in Wichita. Bryce is the favorite to start at RB. ... Senior DE Jordan Voelker, a junior college transfer who played sparingly last season, has been one of the defense’s top performers this spring.

• Key stat: The Wildcats allowed a league-worst 3,008 rushing yards and were gashed for 5.9 yards per carry.

• 2011 outlook: K-State will be overmatched against most league foes. But similar to his first stint in Manhattan, coach Bill Snyder is banking on juco transfers to upgrade the talent. The Wildcats focused this spring on defensive linemen to upgrade the pass rush and run defense.
