If you are ever in New Orleans and want to do something besides Bourbon Street, go on the cemetery and voodoo tour !

First off, it is a walking tour from the middle of the French Quarter, so pick a relatively cool and/or low humidity day !

Secondly, you'll get to see the above ground crypts:

It is not exactly advisable to do your own tour !

Since I haven't posted any photography lately, thought I might do so.

Recently, I was able to buy a clean used Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 AIS lens.  It is manual focus and takes patience to focus wide open.  Here are some pictures I want to share:

Jewelry box at f/1.2

Jewelry box at f/2

I really like the 'dreamy' part of the image that is out of focus...

f/2 is better, but the depth focus isn't that great. Is that a lens issue, or how you focus it?

Do you like f/8 better ?:

I used f/1.2 and f/2 to throw much/most of the jewelry box out of focus and hopefully a more dreamy look.  f/8 puts almost all of the jewelry box in focus.  If you like that better, I have other 'slower' lenses that can do that (although the 50mm f/1.2 lens was used for this image).

You may prefer this last image and that's ok.  Sometimes you have to try different approaches...

I like the dreamy look, but try it with a more contrasting background. This works well with wedding photography when the subject is outside against a sky background. Large contrast from subject.

Well, we didn't get as much as some, but it was 6 or 8 inches on this particular storm.
