Photography Anyone ?
« on: January 17, 2011, 09:03:43 AM »

I had a thread like this on KSUFans and thought you might like one here as well.  I'll start posting some of my photography and don't be shy in posting yours !

The National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial near Union Station and Crown Center in Kansas City.

As a side note, I now volunteer there.  I work about 8 to 12 hours a week.

The poppy field at the museum.  Each poppy (9,000 total) represents 1,000 deaths (total equals 9,000,000) in the Great War.

Here is a poem:

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

I do have a tie-in with the museum.  Grandfather served in the Great War:

Grandpa's middle name was Kaiser ! I'm real sure not too many knew that fact during the war !

We'll move on a bit.

Munich, Germany is to lions as Kansas City used to be to cows:

And what do lions do in Munich ?

They have a beer !
