Cosh, Leavitt, etc.
Made a couple calls, and it's my impression that Billy Cosh's decision to transfer isn't connected to his father's future at K-State.

Billy, the son of embattled K-State defensive coordinator Chris Cosh, was a record-setting prep passer in Maryland, but his chances of starting in Bill Snyder's offense were slim.

K-State hasn't confirmed his departure, but reports that he will transfer to James Madison make sense -- it's a better fit both in terms of the offensive philosophy and the level of competition. (We haven't been able to independently confirm those reports, but they seem to fit with what I've heard.)

It's no guarantee that Chris Cosh will return, but I think his son's transfer was being considered before any staff changes could have been determined.

Which leaves us with the same question: What, if anything, will happen with K-State's coaching staff?

Jim Leavitt, the former Snyder assistant and South Florida coach, remains the hot name. Been trying to reach Leavitt for awhile, but when and if we do, I'm guessing he'll say the same things he told gopowercat.com earlier this week.

"I'm going to stay away from everything right now," Leavitt told the website, asked about the possibility of joining K-State's staff. "I'll tell you what, what do they call that? Plead the fifth? That's what I'm going to do right now. I guess that's the deal."

Nothing there that will dispel any rumors, for sure. It's also pretty consistent with Leavitt's M.O. -- he's been linked to some other jobs (Maryland was a hot one when Mike Leach was in the running), and he apparently has refrained from making any kind of specific comments.

I don't have any particular insight on the matter, but I will say that if Snyder is working on a deal with Leavitt, he's doing it without telling many people around K-State. Snyder certainly wouldn't be above that kind of secrecy, but given Leavitt's past -- he was fired at South Florida after allegations that he struck a player and obstructed the school's investigation -- you'd think his hiring would require some internal discussion at some point.

The only thing I can say with any confidence is the Sean Snyder, who already holds the title of associate athletic director and associate head coach for football operations and development, has a good chance to join the staff in some sort of special teams capacity.  

Any other changes remains uncertain, but with the coaching convention happening this week in Dallas and signing day a month away, the window for a massive defensive overhaul won't stay open forever.

Still thinking my prediction is going to hold true.

Jim Leavitt is getting mentioned quite a bit as a possible defensive hire at Kansas State, where he could eventually succeed 71-year-old Bill Snyder, who he worked under before coming to USF in 1995. Leavitt said he would "plead the fifth" when asked about the opening this week.

i think theres a deal in the works, but they're just keeping quiet about it. and Levitt is just keeping quiet about it so theres not another "It's Patterson!" thing happens, i just think they're trying to keep it on the DL. or im just completely wrong, which would make sense too.
