Lynch projected the technical situation correctly.  That was frustration that got the player in trouble... and on the team that was letting the lead slip away.

Our "bigs" got absolutely schooled in the paint on both sides of the ball.  We never had an answer for Moses.  Definitely needed Kelly for this one!

And what was the reasoning for benching Pullen the last couple minutes of the game?  Was Frank trying to send a message to Jake?  I thought he looked less than enthusiastic to be out there on the floor.

Jake tried to reach around a screen on one of the late drives and this resulted in JamSams (I think) 5th foul. Basically he was sending the message if your not going to play the defense then you're going to sit.

No need for a meltdown. Missouri, Kentucky, Georgetown, Central Florida, Michigan State and Vanderbilt all lost.

I don't think anyone is melting down (yet).  Just stating the facts:

-K-State went from having a 49-41 lead to trailing 63-54 in the span of 4 minutes, 40 seconds
-We had 21 turnovers and six assists
-Six players fouled out and four others had four fouls
-Wildcats haven't beaten a quality opponent since winning at Washington State on Dec. 3
-Pullen sat out the final 3:01 of the game

Quote from: Bob Lutz, Wichita Eagle
Pullen isn't himself. Kelly can't get on the floor. Samuels is up and down. They're supposed to be guys driving this bus.

The only improved player from a season ago is McGruder, an offensive force who is rounding out his game in all areas but made a few key mistakes Saturday.

In the grand scheme of things, losing one game isn't a big deal. Remember, K-State lost to Oklahoma State at Bramlage Coliseum last season and things turned out all right.

But I don't like what I'm seeing from this team. They're missing some of their fight and toughness.

It's obvious that we are not as good as everyone thought we were, coming into this season.  But Mr. Lutz is right, this was just one game.  And lucky for us, it was the first Big 12 game of our schedule and we can turn it around.  It just scares me that we are seeing the same inconsistencies over and over again.

I can't find any quotes from Frank.  Just comments that he was rather upbeat during the presser, despite the loss.

Interesting note, the players did NOT speak to the media after the game.

We waited for about 20-30 minutes for the players to exit the building after the game. We were told that the ones that don't talk to the media generally are out to the bus rather quickly after a game. They must have got an ear full in the locker room if non of them talked to the media.

"The one constant with our bigs, which I'm unhappy again today, it's a twofold thing: turnovers on offense, lack of defensive rebounding," Wildcats coach Frank Martin said. "If you look, that's what we had today. Our front line had turnovers on offense and very little defensive rebounds."

"We made free throws today and we couldn't do much else right," Martin said. "It was a hard, physical game."

We were pretty good today for about 31 minutes. We didn't handle a three-minute segment of the game very well," Martin said. "It's our job to go teach our guys and understand the things that hurt us, why those mistakes cost you games. We'll do that.

"I'm not into predicting, but I think our guys will come back and be prepared and excited to go."
