Anyone think maybe after the UNLV loss that Frank decided to ditch the defense heavy mentality and is leaning more towards a up-tempo offensive scoring team?  Simple stats concur, but I rather get opinions.

First 12 games:
Avg RPI - 80
Avg PPG - 72
Avg PA - 62

Last 3 games (after UNLV):
Avg RPI - 228
Avg PPG - 91
Avg PA - 67

So you would think with the lack of skilled teams the last 3 games that the PA would be lower, but it’s actually higher.  We let RPI 311 Sav St. score 61 against us which was our avg with way better teams.

A couple thoughts on that... we lost our best defender in Jacob Pullen for 2 of those 3 games.  More importantly, Coach Martin mentioned they have made it a point to focus more on offense during practice over Christmas break.  While theoretically, that shouldn't affect your defense... our young team did just that and put more effort into that side of the ball.

Does this mean we are a one-dimensional basketball team....either we play offense well or we play defense well.    

It sure would be nice to do both.

I think we are best as a Defensive team who makes Free throws. We went to the line a TON last year and a lot already this year. If we begin to make even 67% (like last night) of our Free throws and are defensively focused, we will win the tough games.

That's just it...this team doesn't seem to have the defensive focus or the "doberman toughness" that we had last year.
