The Ospreys are 4-8 (1-1 in the Atlantic Sun Conference) with losses at Pittsburgh, at Missouri, at Purdue and at Texas. The Ospreys return 4 starters from last season (a squad that posted a 13-18 overall record, including an 8-12 mark in the Atlantic Sun Conference). The Ospreys are projected to finish 7th in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
The Ospreys are lead by G Parker Smith, G/F Jerron Granberry and F Andres Diaz. Smith is averaging 11 points/game (leads the team), 2 rebounds/game and 1 assist/game. Smith, a Tennessee State transfer, is a 6'3" Georgia native who can really stroke it from long range. The sophomore shot 40% percent from three in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Granberry is averaging 10 points/game, 4 rebounds/game and 2 assists/game. Granberry led the Ospreys in scoring last season as a freshman. He started all 31 games and shot 38% from three-point range. He's the only returning player for UNF to make more than three three-pointers last season.
Diaz is averaging 10 points/game, 6 rebounds/game (leads the team) and 1 assist/game. Diaz also started all 31 games as a freshman. Diaz produced three double-doubles last season, all of which came in UNF's final six games when he averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds. He piled up 15 points and 11 rebounds against ETSU. The 6'7" Miami native led the Ospreys in rebounding.
G Brad Haugabrook leads the team in assists with 3 assists/game. Haugabrook will be the only senior in the starting lineup. The former JUCO point guard ranked fourth in the A-Sun in assists in 31 minutes per game.
The Ospreys are very tough defensively but have no size (no player is taller than 6'7") and are super thin on the inside. That's something that doesn't bode well when you're going up against the Cats. The Cats will roll in this game which will help us all feel better from all of the controversy surrounding Jake and Curt and with what happened today in New York.
