Curtis Kitchen of 810 is reporting Willie Reed is transferring to K-State from St. Louis. Found this article as well... http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu/article_f841bd84-9dde-5ed3-b92a-e5e102af552c.html (http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu/article_f841bd84-9dde-5ed3-b92a-e5e102af552c.html)
He is 6'9", 220 pound Center who averaged 12 pts, 8 rebs. Not to mention, he is on many NBA draft boards. Solid get for Frank Martin and company.
Only real question, what's the scholarship situation with all these newcomers?
-
This guy would be the perfect replacement for Wally if he has a good enough year to go pro.
-
I was in the locker room with Wally a few weeks ago and let me tell you one thing; he is a completely different person than last year. At least 20lbs of muscle, his legs look like oak stumps and dude is focused. This will be his break out year.
-
Yeah, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Frank knows Wally and/or Freddy will be going pro after this season. They're primed for breakout years.
-
I'm going to sticky this thread. Post any BB recruiting information you get here.
-
Here's our 13 (athletic) scholarship players-
Freshman:
- Nino Williams
- Will Spradling
- Shane Southwell
Sophomore:
- Nick Russell
- Juevol Myles
- Rodney McGruder
- Wally Judge
- Martavious Irving
- Jordan Henriquez-Roberts
Junior:
- Jamar Samuels
- Freddy Asprilla
Senior:
Pullen and Kelly graduate & Thomas Gipson and Adrian Diaz will be joining us next season. Omari Lawrence and Willie Reed are potential transfers for next season, as well as Angel Rodriguez leaning towards signing with K-State... this really does pose a scholarship issue.
Who's the odd man (or men) out? ???
-
Sprads and the guys we lose to NBA (Wally or Sprilla). If we lose them, I bet that is what Frank is banking on.
-
Not a chance. Sprads has more upside than M.Irv or the Canadian.
-
This does pose a great challenge. I don't want to see any of them loose a scholarship but somthing will need to happen. Hopefully we can get a few more of them on Academic scholarships. Victor is on academic right?
-
Yes, that's why I didn't include him against our 13 athletic schollies. An academic scholarship would be a great solution... didn't really think about that.
-
I found another academic schollie....
And the winner is Jamar Samuels!! http://plixi.com/p/51607469

The rumor that never dies... speculation that Devon Peterson (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/45374/devon-peterson) is enrolled and will WALK-ON to the basketball team!
This guy is a sharp shooter but may be lacking in intelligence. Still good to get another stud athlete on the team. Not sure if he will be available immediately or at end of semester, but he's got two years of eligibility.
-
Fitz may be pulling another "It's Patterson" but he is announcing on his twitter that "It's Peterson" and he is a Walk-On. So good news!
If you haven't clicked on his ESPN Profile above he is receiving a 95 rating.
-
First result Freshman Devon Peterson for Brooklyn. He's on campus.

Yep, its official! (http://cjonline.com/sports/basketball/2010-10-27/peterson_arrives_at_last_for_cats)

Angel Rodriguez has narrowed it down to three: (http://rivals.yahoo.com/miami/basketball/recruiting/player-Angel-Rodriguez-101432)
Possible point guard for the class of 2011. Not sure where the scholarship is coming from (http://www.coyotescorner.net/images/smilies/Beating_A_Dead_Horse_by_livius.gif), but maybe he's the next Denis Clemente?!?
-
BTW, mods... please add the emoticon above. TIA
-
:sayitagain: Done.
I have an idea where all the scholarships are going to come from. Frank is expecting a final 4 run this year and that a lot of our young talent will head to the NBA. Since Frank isn't the slave owner Bill Self, he will let them pursue their dreams.
We should have a few scholarships available if this happens.
-
I have not seen this anywhere yet but early reports say Kruger has "left" the team. Does anybody have solid evidence that this is the case??

In other related news, freshman walk-on Jarrod Kruger has left the men’s basketball team.

We still have two token white guys left on the team.

2011 basketball commit Adrian Diaz (http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/news?id=119713&_slug_=adrian-diaz&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fmens-college-basketball%2frecruiting%2fplayer%2fnews%3fid%3d119713%26_slug_%3dadrian-diaz) was in Manhattan for the weekend. Got a chance to see him up close and the guy is every bit of 7'0". I never got a good pic of him standing but here's one of him lounging in his seat:
Definitely needs to put some muscle on to compete in the Big 12, maybe a year in prep school like JHR would do him some good. Hope he has a great senior year in high school this year after being out last year with a broken foot.
-
why do all of Frank's bigs come in so skinny and weak.
-
2012- Anthony Joseph Perez Cortesia (http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/blog/_/name/finkelstein_adam/id/5706650) showing interest in K-State.
-
Yeah, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Frank knows Wally and/or Freddy will be going pro after this season. They're primed for breakout years.
From what I've seen of Freddy so far, I don't see him going pro any time soon.

I agree...I don't want to bash Wally, but it seems he has the talent, but lacks in the maturity and basketball IQ needed to be really good. He had it easy in HS and didn't have to know how to defend. He just seems so lost out there.

We're tops on his list (http://rivals.yahoo.com/kansasstate/basketball/recruiting/player-Anthony-Cortesia-119994) right now. No offer yet, but if Frank wants him it sounds like he's ours.
He's been flying under the radar since coming to the states but is finally starting to gain interest from other schools.
-
There was a whole article about that. Let me search around and see if I can find it. Basically saying, this guy is starting to get some looks for top schools.

What will we do if some school offers his Dad $150,000.00 to go there. I will literally meltdown like the evil witch in the Wizard of Oz.

Sources tell me K-State has offered Seward CC guard Jeremy Jones a scholarship.
Great, another guard. This kid better be amazing.

4 guard front!!?!?!?! :JustDance:
-
This isn't Mizzou! And look how it works for them on the road...
-
If you haven't noticed, the last 3 games we have been running a 4 guard type offense. 4 guys on the outside, 1 in the post. It seems to fit with what we have and has allowed us to put points on the board.
-
True, but fate forced our hand into the faux 4 guard look we've been doing the past couple games. THIS sounds like we are recruiting for a new offense.
Also we are not Mizzou, we have something they don't, but have apparently lost it this year.
-
Perry Ellis, 2012, was on hand for the Oklahoma game. Didn't look all that excited to be there, imo.

Angel Rodriguez, Krop High Basketball Star, Wanted By Police (http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2011/02/angel_rodriguez_krop_high_bask.php)... for a skipped court date.
-
D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/77077/d%27vauntes-smith-rivera), 4* point guard (Class of 2012), decommits from Xavier and shows interest in K-State.
-
Got a 96 Rating. Hope Hill can earn his pay on this one. If not we need to re-negotiate his contract.

Nemenja Djurisic (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/103228/nemenja-djurisic), power forward for the class of 2011 has us in his top 4 and is supposed to make a decision today. He is coming on strong as of late and is garnering a lot of interest.
With the majority of the ESPNU 100 signing in November, it has been well chronicled that the late signing period is thin on talent, especially in the post. A player like South Kent's (Conn.) PF Nemenja Djurisic (6-foot-8, 230 pounds), who played very well late in the season, would have an increased value during the normal late signing period as teams scramble to fill needs on their roster. But given the lack of available talent, he now becomes a "must-get" for some programs.
Djurisic, a native of Podgorica, Montenegro, had schools like Fairfield, Stony Brook, Rhode Island and Charlotte on him before blowing up in the late period. He took official visits to NC State and Utah and both were serious contenders before coaching changes forced him to cross those schools of his list. He has now narrowed his choices to Arizona State, East Carolina, Georgia and Kansas State and is expected to make a decision on Friday. Djurisic says that style of play, his relationship with the head coach and the way a coach communicates with his players will all factor into his final decision.
The ruggedly built Djurisic is a typical European power forward with a good basketball IQ who has the ability to stretch the defense out to the 3-point line. He caught a lot of people's attention with a good game in a head-to-head match-up against ESPN's No. 1-rated 2012 prospect Andre Drummond.
It is always interesting to follow the competition for a player in the late period and Djurisic's decision is going to one coach very happy and force the others to continue to scramble.
-
Djurisic chooses Georgia.
-
As expected, Omari Lawrence will play for the Cats next season after transferring from Rutgers and sitting out a year at Cloud Community College.
-
Woot. Hope we have a scholarship available for him that year after Dalonte "murders" on the recruiting trail this year.

We just offered Tyler Roberson and Allerick Freeman of the 2013 class, We are also looking at Geno Thorpe
love those names lol, be nice to get them to carry on the names here lol
-
we gotta be able to land Victor's brother right? If we offer him. he's ranked higher than the roberson guy. http://rivals.yahoo.com/kansasstate/basketball/recruiting/player-Semi-Ojeleye-114227 (http://rivals.yahoo.com/kansasstate/basketball/recruiting/player-Semi-Ojeleye-114227)

last I heard Roberson and Freeman both were ESPN super 60's
-
Frank needs to land some top talent or people will begin to talk that his last big pickup was an McDonald's dud.
-
Semi has officially been offered by K-State!
-
Sweet. I'm ready to start hearing the good news of Frank's travels.

The Kansas State Wildcats secured a key pledge from the country’s top remaining center in Robert Upshaw (Fresno, Calif./San Joaquin Memorial) on Monday.
WOOT!
-
This room needs some serious updating...my, how things have changed since Lynch's last post. Who's Weber bringing for next year?
-
Well considering we need to drop 2 scholarships (maybe more) if everyone stays, it's looking like his job is kinda easy this first year.
-
On the other hand, PLEASE GET SOMEONE WHO CAN SHOOT THE BALL!
