One would hope, but just wanted to talk on it, even though I know nothing other then what 100+ articles have to say mixed together and adjusted with my Willie goggles to equal some sort of satisfaction.  Lets begin:

We are not heading to the Big 10 (though I wouldn't mind that option),
nor the SEC (thank goodness, I care less about the money in the background as a fan, I care about watching competitive games that get K-State as close to a BCS game as possible, and they wouldn't do that there),
Pac 12 closing up that option (if I had to travel long distance, that's the direction I would want to go, but that isn't a short-mid term great option for the Cats, though we would balance out in the league faster then SEC),
ACC seems to be full now (best football option for Cats hands down, better then Big East, and even though bball would be extremely difficult, being good in fball and middy in bball wouldn't make me complain),
Big East is what we knew it as, either going to be cherry picked or too large for it to matter, and cherry picked it has been.  So now with the Big 12 and BE talking about merging, is this the best place for the Cats?  You bet...

Positives:
--AQ conference... that's all that matters for a K-State fan.. no seriously
--Playing teams like.. KU, ISU, Baylor, Mizzo(prob not going to be around), USF, WVU (Prob not), Cinci, Louisville.  Bring in teams like Houston, Navy, BYU, TCU, Boise, Air Force, maybe Nevada.  We would be competitive in both major sports, getting us BCS spots and NCAA tourney bids.  That money would be > then lets say a Texas Tech team getting pounded with just conference payouts.
--Football and Basketball tournaments close by.  If not yearly, every other year.  Big +

Negatives:
--I would say travel, but that's going to be a b*tch with any super conf
--I would say recruiting, but we play in the Juco's and sprinkle Snyder dust on them to make them NFL super bowl champs.  Though we will prob not get the one and done in bball going forward, but we are not Kentucky.. so nothing new
--I would say guarantee conf $$, but we don't have costs in all the other crap sports like other big school which will now cost a CRAP load to charter all over the States, ask Nebraska or check out their costs that they just published. haha.  So with continued strong Alumni donations and BCS/Tourney dollars, we will be healthy.

I think anytime you hear about a conference breaking up, the question of stability comes to mind.  That's the main reason I don't want to be in the Big 12 anymore, seems like every year we have to wait to hear who wants out next, and I'm ready for some stability.  If this merger happens, maybe those questions no longer happen, but I don't like the idea of 2 fallen apart conferences coming together as 1.

Good news is, it should be a pretty competitive conference in both football and basketball, even with the loss of 2 pretty good basketball schools.  Just a couple of added thoughts.

So it seems that Oklahoma wants to stay if everyone can agree on an equal revenue sharing deal.  Seems that Texas is realizing that they either go Independent or modify the LHN a ton, which means they might as well stay in the Big 12.  So.. whats the chance that the remaining 9 remain in Big 12 and we absorb the 7 (6 + TCU next year) Big East schools to get at 16?  Or better yet, keep the Big 12 at 9 and get BYU (who will no doubt join with OU and Texas and an equal rev deal), then in 2 years when Pitt and Cuse leave and more chaos ensues (but surprisingly doesn't involve the new 10 big 12 schools), we absorb 4-6 from that if needed.

More that is being talked about the strength of the Big 12 even without A&M, the Big 12 has the chance to stand up and say we are doing whats best for our fans.

Mizzou's out? My reaction.....

Everything has changed again, and more along the lines from what I mentioned above.  Pac 12 not expanding, which is actually a bit surprising.  Last week they said the Kansas schools were backups if Texas wanted to go Independent, and the reasoning for them not expanding is due to Texas not agreeing on their equal revenue deal.  So what happened to the Oklahoma and Kansas options?  I believe they feel good at 12, and I believe the ACC feels good at 14, and of course the Big 10 feels good at 12.  The Big East isn't in a RUSH per say, they are going to hold Pitt and Cuse to at least 2 years, but they are the worse off of everyone here.  The news with Mizzou is shocking.. not.. they got butt hurt last year and are exactly like A&M, need to get their egos feeling a bit better, so I will assume they are going to go ahead and get this SEC deal wrapped up.  So that leaves four options:

Option 1:  The Big 12 minus Mizzou now needs 2 members to get to 10.  BYU is a lock, but I don't see the Big 12 going for WVU or Louisville since that would seriously hurt our relations with what was now our backup plan.  So the big question for this option, who is the 10th?

Option 2:  Whoever becomes the commissioner for the Big 12 can't get a more equal rev deal with Texas and OU gets pissed and the Pac 12 ends up taking OU and OSU for 14, possibly Kansas schools for 16, but no need to get to 16 if no one else is, and the Pac 12 would be better off taking OU and OSU and just waiting for the Texas schools to come over when the other super conferences are formed in a few years.

Option 3:  Texas gets pissed and goes independent claiming that Mizzou leaving showed even more instability in the conference.  We screw the relationship with Big East and claim what’s needed to stay as a top 1 or 2 league.

Option 4:  Baylor spits in A&M's face some more, but this time rubs it in further and saves some for Mizzou and wont let up on the threats, leaving A&M and Mizzou here for another year... everything starts again next year.

I don't think filling up the Big 12 with crappy Big East schools is going to help the issue.  The real issue is that Texas calls all the shots, Beebe allows it.  Texas needs to go indy so they can do all their shady activities on their own (Not sure what HS football highlights has to do with their university other than a recruiting advantage).  I really hope OU and OSU follow through and move out west where everyone has equal revenue sharing and will be banking in $35 mil a year revenue compared to the ~20 the big 12 offers

Sounds extremely similar to the SEC when they issued a statement saying they weren't expanding and then offered an invitation to A&M several days later.

So the Big XII is staying together now that Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State aren't going to the Pac (whatever they were going to call it)? Texas suddenly decided that they don't need to be the Yankees and we're going to have revenue sharing? Why would they suddenly do that when they don't have to? Is Missouri going to the SEC or not? Does the Big XII need to add 1 or 3 teams? BYU or Louisville and/or West Virginia? I'm so confused!
