Well..... not sure how I feel about it yet.  I need to review it a bit more, but my initial thoughts is crap, we got OU, WVU, TCU on the road.  Though I have read a number of articles about Baylor remaining strong this year, I just can't imagine them being THAT strong.  So I am fine with that away game, and I am fine with ISU being an away game.  Having the target on our backs this year should play into a big WVU game.  I look at it like this, we either win both Miami and OU and are really going for the title, or we lose both games and the WVU game doesn't mean as much.  TCU is the same deal, we either are ranked high and they come out ready to play against us (as they do with ranked teams, just not the other teams), or we roll them.  Overall, my early prediction is 9 wins.

I was hoping to get WVU on the road just to have a great excuse to make a road trip and check the place out. There is a point to the fact that we play all of the quality (allegedly) Big XII teams on the road. I'll set my expectations at 8 wins, only so that when we go 12-0 like Lynch has suggested it'll be twice as nice.

Breaking down the 2012 Big 12 schedule
February, 14, 2012

By David Ubben

So, the Big 12 schedule's been officially released. A few dates may shift here and there, but the weeks are locked into place. Time for some analysis and notes.

MUST-SEE DATES

Sept. 15: TCU at Kansas: It's been awhile since Lawrence hosted a game that came anything close to must-see, but this qualifies. TCU takes part in the first Big 12 game of the season, and Charlie Weis makes his debut in the conference to see what his Jayhawks have to offer.

Sept. 22: Kansas State at Oklahoma: Another solid early-season game in the Big 12. This could easily be a matchup of two top-10 teams, and maybe even top five if the ball bounces K-State's way. OU rolled by 41 in Manhattan last year, but K-State will have a chance to validate its 2011 season with a good performance in this one.

Sept. 29: Baylor at West Virginia: The Mountaineers play their first Big 12 game at home a week later. It'll be pretty crazy to see a packed Milan Puskar Stadium full of yellow with a Big 12 logo on the turf and a new-look Baylor team look for its own brand of validation without RG3.

Oct. 13: Texas vs. Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. The Big 12's version of the Granddaddy of Them All. The league's best rivalry resumes at the State Fair of Texas this weekend, which unfortunately falls on the same weekend as Austin City Limits. For the hipster/college football crossover fans, this is your worst nightmare.

TOUGHEST FINISH: Oklahoma

The Big 12 did the league favorite no favors this time around. Oklahoma will have to earn its Big 12 title. It travels to West Virginia on Nov. 17 before hosting Oklahoma State for the first time since 2009 in the Bedlam game. Finally, it closes its season with a trip to TCU in Fort Worth. It's late in the season, but don't be surprised if that's three top-25 teams and two on the road.

BEST COINCIDENCE (?): Matching dates for UT, A&M and Mizzou, KU

So, what are you guys doing on Nov. 17? Texas and Texas A&M are both off that weekend. Just a thought, you know. In case you got a wild hair to stop being petty, Longhorns.

Meanwhile, Missouri is about to lock into a game with Central Florida, but Kansas is off on Sept. 29 and the Tigers haven't announced their half of the schedule just yet. UCF lists the Tigers, but everybody has their price. Mizzou has pushed for the rivalry to resume, but here's guessing if KU agreed, the Tigers would oblige to meet that day.

The chances of either of these games happening? Just above .00001%.

BEST HOME SCHEDULE: Texas Tech

The Red Raiders get to host Texas, Oklahoma and West Virginia in Year 1. Very nice. Next year might be a little difficult, but enjoy this one, Tech.

BEST AWAY SCHEDULE: Oklahoma

The Sooners get to pave the way for the rest of the Big 12 and make trips to the league's new territory in Year 1. Road trips to West Virginia and TCU are on the schedule.

All the Longhorn fans over at Shaggybevo are losing their minds about ending the season here in Manhattan. Its honestly one of the better laughs I've had in a while.

Getting no respect over on the bleacher report (not surprised),  Chambers has us picked just above KU, and Iowa State odds wise for winning the Big XII next year. He actually gave OU and Texas the best odds, also he put KU above ISU.

His point is that there are large questions on D and O line, as well as not sure if we can replicate.

Well as there are question on O Line, with our Center coming back and Klein being the beast he is I'm sure we can manage. KU is a surprise. D will be fine as Aurthor will have another year under his belt and can attack the gaps better.

I am thinking we will be in contention for the title all year. BUT we are K-State and each time I get my hopes up they are shattered in the first 2 weeks so who knows.

I can see us dropping Miami and OU, but I think as the season goes on we will improve as we continue to work things through the system, I think the "experts" are making a bigger deal out the line issues than they should, because of BJ still being there, and because well its LHCBS. Where there is a Bill, there is a way.

to add, Miami is iffy, I'm still not sure how good they will be. They did go 6-6 in the ACC. They do have a great recruiting class coming in though.

Well, I am not the only one that thinks we got screwed for this year.  I don't care if next year will be easier with the flip, I wanted this year to be easy with what we have returning.  5 away big 12 games.  TCU and KU are the only other schools with 5 big 12 away games.  Below is the article that has at least one other agreeing that we will struggle.

Recap if you don't want to read it all:
"What Big 12 team has the toughest schedule?

Bohls: Bill Snyder, how did you let this happen at Kansas State?

It flies in the face of all the 72-year-old coach stands for because, even with Tim Tebow Lite Collin Klein back, the Wildcats catch rebuilding Miami and have to travel to OU, West Virginia and TCU."

Well now that Basketball is over and Baseball isn't going as planned time to wait and look towards football season. It's going to be a rough 6 months.
