Any news on how the search is going? I can't seem to find any. Who would be your pick to run the Cat's D next season?
-
I am hearing that Air Force's D Cordinator may be in discussion. More on that shortly.
-
Reports that Jim was interested in the job and K-State Superiors said no.
-
Why would they say no? I thought he was a pretty good coach?
-
That's still in debate. The main assumption that is being tossed around is that he was demanding a Head Coach in Waiting title along with DC, and they said nope.
-
Hmmm well Currie has been making great decisions all of his Career here at KSU so I guess I'll just trust his judgement.
-
As long as it's not because Sean Snyder has been promised the Head Coaching job.
-
Is Sean really interested in the Head Coaching job?
-
I really don't think Currie would let Sean be the next head coach, plus from what I've heard Sean isn't all that interested, doesn't want (attempt) to follow in his dad's foot steps.
Do not get why we wouldn't take Leavitt even if he is demanding a HCIW status. Would take him as the next head coach without thinking twice.

So everything has been rather quiet about this for about a week. Anyone hear any news? Seems like we should have done somthing by now or we are going to get a lot of Defensive recruits not wanting to go to a school if they don't know who the coach is.

That is all I have heard recently.

WTF is going on with this. We had prime opportunity to go get someone and have let that just pass. I'm going to be pissed if it's an internal hire.
-
The fact that a hire hasn't been made yet is absurd. Further more to wait this amount of time to find out we hired internally is just disappointing. I expect more from Currie. I know that Bill's MO is to do this sort of thing, but come on! So tired of missing great opportunities to make the right hires.
... Looks like this might be another huge whiff. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Just found this buried at the end of the signing day article. Sounds like its all but a matter of time now before we announce that Hayes has been promoted. SWEET!
New Defensive Coordinator
Snyder said he has selected a new defensive coordinator to take over for Chris Cosh, who left for the same position at South Florida two weeks ago, but doesn't know when K-State will announce who it is. “We have our guy,†he said.
Snyder said the school is currently sorting through contract details with the coach. Two sources told The Star last week he was leaning toward promoting defensive backs coach Tom Hayes into the coordinator position. Snyder did not deny that report. When asked if Hayes was, indeed, his choice Snyder smiled and again said, “We have our guy.â€

Better get used to typing DCTH

Tom Hayes is our new D-Cordinator. He will still remain secondary coach while being promoted to D-Cordinator.
I'm not extremely happy about this. We had a chance to go and get an outside hire to change up this Defense that to be honest was only improved over last year due to age and physicality not because of better technique and strategy. Hayes was part of that defensive unit. I would have loved to see a new approach and someone that knows how to prevent the Big 12 passing attack.

Also there is this
GoPowercat.com also learned through sources that the tag of linebackers coach, which was also vacated by Cosh's departure, is expected to be filled by Mike Cox, who held the same title at Washington last season. Cox was one of three assistants let go by Huskies head coach Steve Sarkisian following an Alamo Bowl loss that saw his defense allow 67 points and 777 total yards to Baylor.
We do realize that this guy has to play Baylor every year now right? WTF
-
Man these hires are SUPER SEXY! Can't wait! - insert extreme sarcasm and disappointment here.

Lets sum this up with a positive. LHCBS is here to calm the waters, which means having a team to support that understand football, looks like they know how to play it, and can compete with anyone. All that was lost with Prince which is now back. Snyder hasn't had a top tier name in AGES as we all know his demands run off coaches. He doesn't mess around with top tier recruits because its a waste of time in his eyes, and that's how he has been with coaches also. Vic Koenning was our first big name and we saw how that turned out. As long as LHCBS is at the helm, he will find people who have already bought into his demands, which will usually be a hire within if at all possible. The positive, we will win more games with LHCBS then we will lose while he is back, but don't expect 10 win seasons year after year. That will happen when our sexy administrators bring in someone as head coach that can be considered top tier, coupled with the buzz of a rebuilt program (thanks to Snyder) who can at that point get a chance to get some top tier assistants.
