Title: Away with exhibitions!
Post by: KSUftw on November 03, 2010, 03:27:47 PM
No, not really, I understand how important they are to prepare for the season.  Plus, with such a young team this year, two exhibitions make sense.... BUT! they are always crappy basketball, and I can't help but get super excited and countdown to the first tip of the season and then finish the game with a crap load of .

Quick thoughts... I have to admit I thought Pullens hype was a bit exaggerated, but that’s probably because I can clearly remember watching Beasley and comparing talent to Beasley is stupid.  Just still not use to having top talent on our basketball team, but to my shame, Pullen is legit and I pray nightly he stays healthy.

Our big guys are exactly as I was expecting, just one year older.  To say right now we have one of the best front courts is pushing it I think.  Non-conf should be tough for them, but I expect them to be ready for league play.  Best part of our bigs, knowing we went to the elite eight with colon, and watching Asprilla fill that void (hahaha,  :fitzed: I don't mean void, I mean lack of.  Actually, to continue on how much of an upgrade this is.. Colon had a TOTAL of 81 points last year and 106 rebounds, if the stats last night would have counted, Asprilla would be 1/8 of the way to meeting Colon's production.  So in a sense, by the end of the year, he could literally provide 4x the production)

Our guards will be fine. I was impressed on the depth with those positions.  Its to early to comment on who should and shouldn't play the 1 or 2, but I expect Frank to try only a few combinations this Sunday and we will get a more realistic idea who will be playing what role.

When Pullen drained his first three during that game, I was instantly relieved last season wasn't a fluke!

Just got back from a great weekend in Manhattan, here's some thoughts about exhibition #2:

Definitely got the same feeling as the last exhibition that Frank was just trying to get everyone some playtime before the regular season starts.  Looking forward to Friday to see what his real starting 5 will be and how they mesh.  We don't look like a #3 team in the nation yet but we are going to find out real soon what we're made of.

Thanks for the info Felis. I believe that the score spread was in our favor vs. how KU did against the Ichabods, correct?

Time for some real Basketball!

•JamSam didn't play again.  I call BS on his eye injury, he's either having academic issues or in Frank's doghouse

PLZ o PLZ be the eye!

Frank said on 810 that sitting Jamar is more of a precautionary measure.  He played in Europe this summer and didn't want to wear him out before the season started.

I'll take this story over a "poked eye" keeping out of exhibition games.  Can't wait to see him suited up on Friday!
