Cats are 14th. Does that mean anything? As far as I'm concerned those standings aren't worth the paper they're written on except for #1 and #2 but maybe I'm wrong. Am I?
-
You have to be at least #14 to have a chance at an at-large BCS bowl bid, but other than that, #1 and #2 is basically all that matters.
-
So we've still got a "shot" at the Orange or Sugar bowls? I suppose even the Fiesta bowl.
-
Technically, yes.
OTOH, K-State happens to be the main school where BCS rules have to be written (after the fact).
So I wouldn't keep my hopes up too high here...

Ya, Orange is right, 1,2, or top 14 is all. Being 14th is good, but wont mean anything at the end of the season, below is why:
7% - Win at OSU and the rest falls into place = BCS bowl, Fiesta
9% - Win at OSU and lose one other one = Prob tie for 2nd place, would need OU to stomp OSU to get the second BCS bowl, Fiesta
40% - Lose at OSU and beat the rest = top 14th, but with OU and OSU hopefully taking two BCS slots = Cotton
65% - Lose at OSU and lose one other one = as long as we win against A&M = Cotton
45% - Lose at OSU and lose against A&M = good chance we tie with A&M and get Alamo
18% - Lose at OSU and lose 2 more = Alamo
4% - Lose rest = Insight
-
I would say, if you guys beat A&M, you'll get the Cotton. If you lose, you'll get the Alamo. Of course, if you win in Stillwater, that throws that out of the window.
-
If we go 10-2 with losses to OU and OSU I don't see us not going to a BCS bowl.
-
2 is max though per conference. Title game basically ENSURES a second Big 12 team to get a BCS bid, but if OU and OSU miss out on the NC game, then there is a chance we wont get 2 BCS bids. Which means one of those teams will steal our Cotton bid. But.. to be honest, Mizzou got shafted when they beat KU and KU got the BCS bowl, so who knows when it comes to money. Good thing we have a reputation for traveling well.

KSUftw is right, only 2 teams per conference allowed in BCS bowls. Basically you have to win at OSU or hope for either OSU/OU meltdown to get a BCS bid.
