Title: Selby's Status
Post by: Albatross on October 27, 2010, 03:14:10 PM
Well he has been cleared academically ( bet he can't spell that) but he is still not completely clear.  I was wondering what everyone else thought about KU with or w/o Selby.

Without Selby - non-tourny team
With Selby - Top 10 team

Or do you think he will not be that big of a factor....

Without Selby they are already a top 10 team (#7) and picked by coaches to finish 2nd in the Big 12.
With Selby they would have been picked 1st in the Big 12 and possibly #2 in the nation.

Selby will be cleared unless amateur status is really the question.

I am sorry but KU is just not that good w/o Selby.  The voters were very gracious with the ranking they gave them.  You can't lose two perennial all-americans and a 1-and-doner and then replace it with just 1 more year of experience for the rest of the team and expect to be a top 10 team.  They are just treating them like they did UNC last year.  Pre-season top 10 team w/o proving anything then ended the year not even making it to the tourny.

Uh. You can if you are replacing those All-American's with other future All-American's.

ku has nothing to prove. They are the team that has won the league the last 6 years. It's every other team that needs to prove they can take them down. Have we proved this yet? NO we lost to them not once, not twice, but THREE times last season.  With or Without Selby KU is very good.

I believe that K-State > KU without Selby. K-State = KU with Selby and we will split the series. Look for an article next week that highlights this point of view.

Very fair assessment, Lynch.  I'd like to give us the edge (should Selby get cleared) but we got to go out and prove we're better.  The Elite 8 was awesome but it still stings that we lost to them three times in the course of last season.

And this is the last time I will talk about them until KU Hate Week 2011.
