TCU <-- Not going to happen, but would be best option
Air Force
BYU
Louisville

The other seem long shots or I just wouldn't want.

TCU is only good for football.  Not even sure if they have a bball team or anything else.  I could be totally off on that though (naturally I assume they do), so anyone who likes TCU and doesn't just like Patterson, please correct me if I am wrong.  BYU imo has the biggest TV audience nationally.  Though I haven't watched a fball game of theirs in a long time, would their crowd be angry like all other big 12 schools?  Louisville next on my short list followed by Air Force.  I think BYU is by far the best bet for a 10 team league, and the addition of Louisville and Air Force would keep a strong conference at 12.

What if we all get it wrong and instead of us just adding one team.. the Big East and Big 12 merge in some sort of freak super conference. Just throwing that out there, there was some article about 2 or 3 weeks back that was about how the Big East commissioner had contacted Dan Beebe to discuss the future of the two conferences.

Anyways I would really like to see BYU, Air Force and Louisville. And I really think that would be the best combo between television markets, alumni, and program strength. Which after all, is what it is all about.

Notre Dame, Arkansas, and Pitt will all laugh and hang up the phone. Ain't happening.

I'd be shocked if TCU went to the big 12 considering they have plans to move to the Big East next year. Same for BYU after the decision to go independent.

My guess is that it will end up being Houston, SMU, and maaaaaaaaybe Louisville.

Pick 3 ?:

Notre Dame
Arkansas
BYU
Pittsburgh
Air Force
Louisville
Houston
TCU
SMU

Ok, no Texas schools, so that lets out Houston, TCU and SMU right away.  I think with Texas, Baylor and Tech, we have the state covered well.

ND.  Sure I'd love to have them, just so we can kick their butt.  But, it ain't happenning.

Arkansas.  Good choice, but they aren't leaving the SEC.  Still too much baggage and hard feelings from their SWC days.  So, no.  not happenning.

BYU.  Has many positives and they can keep their network.  We used to play BYU a bunch in non-conference back in the 70's.

Pitt.  I think they kinda said no.  Interesting choice though.

Air Force.  I really like this idea.  A high school buddy of mine made a career out of the Air Force and started (and graduated from) from the Academy.  We used to play Air Force in non-conference back in the 70's.

Louisville and it is pronouced Lou-uh-vulle.  Many positives here.

Ok, my three are BYU, Air Force and Louisville.  One off the list, but I also like is Wyoming.  I know they bring nothing to the table.  I just like them.

Pitt already said no, but no one really thought they'd show.

Arkansas is happy where they are.

Notre Dame.. don't count this one out.   There is a lot going on behind the scenes, but for now they'll stay put.

None of this really matters right now.. A&M is going nowhere soon.  They are exploring options but they've pretty much pissed off the rest of the big 12.. going to be funny watching you guys play in stadiums where you will be heckled relentlessly.

Spoiled brats..

As much as I hate bands, I am going to miss seeing your band make ours look like a middle school 3rd hour required class band.

WILL NOT miss the Corps of Cadets though.

How about the record specifically while you were at school there?  That was when the pride was at its peak right? ;)

I don't think OU will wind up being a wallflower on this in the end, Boren said. I do not know with certainty what our final decision will be....There's no school in the Big 12 more active than we are

That's the problem with OU. They simply lack the smart people to pick up a calculator and do some math. Them winning the big 12 each year yields a bcs game which allows them to bring in more money then 99% of football teams. Only the other powerhouse universities that make the NC game bring in more.  I suppose I should watch a couple more big east games this year. Time to start winning more fball games and get our butt kicked in bball.

So Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas and Texas Tech are probably headed to the Pac 16. That leaves. Iowa State, Missouri, uk, K-State and Baylor left to pick up the pieces, or does it? What if ISU, MU, KSU and uk jump ship to what is now the Big 10/12 and turn it into the Big 16? I don't know what would happen to Baylor but I'm not concerned about that. How does that sound? I kinda like it.

There are a lot of scenarios. Maybe I've become jaded or just extremely pessimistic when it comes to "things turning out good" for K-State, but I don't think it's going to end well for us if the Big 12 dissolves.

OU's sole focus now on joining Pac-12
University of Oklahoma sources are indicating the school's focus is squarely on joining the Pac-12. By nature of Oklahoma State president Burns Hargis' comments Saturday, it would seem OSU is also focused on the Pac-12

Word on the street is that today will be a big day for the big 12...or rather the last of the big 12.  Texas A&M is set to leave officially to the SEC.  OSU/OU will be announcing that they are pursuing other options (going to the PAC).  KU/KSU will probably be heading to the Big East.  Mizzou may be the 14th team for the SEC, or could go Big 10 with ISU.  Texas Tech is dependent on what happens with Texas (Pac or Indy).  Baylor is screwed in all situations...

Baylor might be making bank on A&M.  Could go independent for awhile.  Half of that is a joke.

I'm amazed that Baylor is the loan wolf in this fight. Almost like a White Knight trying to keep this league together. I would think ISU would try to help but nothing...

Other schools are saying they would like to keep the Big 12. Baylor is the only one making threats. Guess they need too, just surprised they are the only ones.

I hear Baylor is refusing to waive their right to sue aTm & the SEC.

Would the Big 10 seriously consider ISU?  I didn't think they would meet the academic standards.

Big 10 took Nub and they are the only school who isn't a member of Association of American Universities.

EDIT:

Nebraska was a member of the AAU when it was invited to the Big Ten in June 2010, but was voted out just before officially joining the league in 2011.

I guess they might not have.

ISU has a few things going for them for the Big 10.

1. Strong connection with Univ. of Iowa
2. Strong wrestling program (Big 10 has quite a few prestigious wrestling programs)
3. They do have AAU status for now (may end up like Nebraska)
4. Would give them more leverage to possibly convince Notre Dame to join them with having 13 teams.

Again, this is just speculation, but when the cards fall, I bet that is the most likely scenario for ISU.

Looking at the possible new Big East schedule.  I don't have TOO many issues with it at all.  Travel would be impacted, but not as much as I was thinking with KU, Mizzo, and TCU yearly.  I could even argue that KC would be the host of the conf championship every 3 years or so.

The Big East conference schedule for fball:

Western (prob not name):
K-State
KU
Mizzo
TCU
Louisville
West Virginia

Eastern (prob not name):
Cinci
UConn
Pitt
Rutgers
USF
Cuse   :Salute:
