Title: A Look at Eastern Kentucky
Post by: cf0102 on August 28, 2011, 07:14:24 PM
The Colonels went 6-5 (5-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference) with a win over Jacksonville State and losses to Louisville and Southeast Missouri. The Colonels lost one game by a field goal and finished the season on a 4 game winning streak.

QB T.J. Pryor completed 53% of his passes for 1,613 yards with 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2010. Head coach Dean Hood says of Pryor: "We're not going to have to put the whole game on him like we have had to the last two years." As a sophomore, he became the first quarterback to lead EKU in rushing (505 yards, nine touchdowns) since 1963, while passing for 1,613 yards and 12 TDs. Pryor was also the team's leading rusher with 505 yards (3.5 yards/carry) rushing last season. He also scored 9 touchdowns on the ground.

Defensively, the Colonels are lead by DB/Kick returner Jeremy Caldwell. Last year, he returned two kickoffs for touchdowns (SE Missouri and Jacksonville State), ran back a punt for a touchdown (put the Colonels in the lead over Austin Peay for good) and returned an interception for a touchdown (got the team on the board vs. Louisville).

WTF was that huge turd our offense took in the middle of the new field on Saturday! 10 points against E. Kentucky are you freaking kidding me!

A couple of minor things here and there and the Cats would have blown out EKU. I was never concerned that they were going to lose the game. I fully expect them to have their issues worked out by the time the Kent State game gets here.

12:30p - Bill Snyder Press Conference(live)

What do you think he'll have to say? I really don't think the only problem on Saturday was that he "didn't open the play book enough".  He did make a good point about our Offensive line not seeing the field. It was like they were totally blind.

I originally thought it was a small list, but it continues to grow as I keep reflecting on the game.

No running back had the chance to get in rhythm with the shuffling all game.
Even if they did, our O-Line is wayyyy to inexperienced and lacking D1 talent.
Even if O-Line played well, Klein’s tunnel vision toward the go-to receiver from the snap is just gravy for other defenses.
Even if the above was fixed, our coaches took 20 sec to get the play out followed by another 5 in the huddle which gave no time to read defense and had us snapping on the 1-2 sec range way to often.
Even if the above was fixed, our turnovers was so not Snyder, it showed how far they are from ready.
And lastly, our special teams will not be a highlight like previous years.
