Starting Roster:
Pullen
McGruder --> Irving
Samuels --> Still comes off the bench??
Kelly
Asprilla --> Judge
I still think there is a lot up in the air when it comes to our starting line-up.
I will be at the Newman game tweeting live about anything and everything so follow us @kstatenation.
Proceed to debate...

You must be out of your mind if you think Samuels doesn't start. Unless he pulls a Brent V. and gets kick out of Manhattan, Samuels will start and see just as much time as Pullen this year.
If I'm wrong I'll give you the Leet cat status.
-
Might as well and give it to me now because I have to be honest with you, I don't see him starting. He likes his role as the perennial 6th man.
-
:fitzed:
Samuels will start.
Pullen----Irving
Russell----McGruds
JamSam---Wally
Asprilla---JHR
Curtis---Wally
Wally 6th man of the year???
I have a feeling, based on what Nick did in the offseason in Europe that he will compete for a starting job, and do very well this year.
We'll be even deeper if Devon Peterson is actually going to play for us this year..
-
I hope Wally progressed enough in the off-season to have a larger impact than just 6th man of the year. For some reason, I need to see Russell show me a little more than he has in the past (I know he had a lack of PT) but he does have one smooth shot (def. better than blake young, ha)

Trying to figure out this starting lineup is like :typical: . I'm just not completely sold that Pullen will be playing the point and Samuels is starting at the 3.
-
I don't think Pullen should bring up the ball. KSUftw will disagree, but he should be receiving the pass and not have to worry about getting the ball up the court.
-
Agreed. Here's my starting five and their backups:
Irving (Myles)
Pullen (Russell)
Samuels (McGruder)
Kelly (Judge)
Asprilla (JHR)
I think its key to have McGruder and Judge coming off the bench to replace our two primary scorers, Curtis and Jake. Pepper in the incoming freshman guards for relief and you got a pretty solid lineup.
(I'm leaving Devon Peterson out until I actually see him in a K-State jersey)

Ok, this one is my favorite yet. I really think we will use Nino alot more than ppl are predicting. He is essentially a Dom Sutton that can actually shoot.
-
Jake's comments on the point guard position:
"Right now I would say I will be at the point, but Frank likes to play with two people who can handle the ball," said Pullen. "If I do play point, I will keep that scoring mentality and go out and get buckets when we need them. That's what I did last year. I picked my time to score in bunches, but also helped other people get involved."
Pullen listed the names of Martavious Irving, Rodney McGruder, Juevol Myles, Nick Russell, Shane Southwell and Will Spradling all as candidates to man the two guard positions.

Ya, Pullen has the best hands on our team. Why not have him bring it down and then go deeper in the clock that will allow plays for Pullen. There is no way Frank can try to keep the offensive pace the same as last year. Our offensive was slower with Beasley, so nothing new.
Regarding our starting 5... I can't even begin to wrap my brain around our second point and how our new guys will contribute. The best part being.. we are rather deep in talent. Frank loves Spradling and we will definetly see Williams and Southwell early. They could be big during Big 12 play, but that will be determined early enough.
-
With how strong our out of conference schedule is we better get up BIG and early on the weaker teams. If not the younger talent that needs the most development before Big 12 play, isn't going to see much time.

These guys (http://kstatriots.com/2010/10/21/basketball-tidbits/) are kicking our ass in super insidery info regarding the starting lineup!
-
The Topeka Capital Journal has projected the following lineup:
- Pullen
- Irving
- McGruder
- Kelly
- Judge
I guess we'll know soon enough who the starters will be.

I should have an interesting QandA up in a bit...
