Title: Dalonte Hill Leaving?

Wouldn't this be a full-circle at its finest...

After we just a few days ago revisited Gary Williams' comments about Kansas State associate head coach Dalonte Hill, the man who replaced him, Mark Turgeon, is now trying to get Hill to join the Terrapins bench.

Confirmed through sources, Hill and Maryland today either talked already, or will, to at least discuss the possibility of him leaving Manhattan for home - a story that has become more than just well-known to KSU fans over the past few seasons.

Kansas State is aware of the situation.

Known for having brought Michael Beasley to K-State, having Hill return home with his recruiting ties would be a major coup for Turgeon, who has watched virtually the entire incoming class ask for its release since his hire.

More as this story develops

 :shakingfist:

Seeing as how Frank has been our best recruiter since Beasley. Is this that big of a loss?

Underwood is the one I want to keep around. I would also love to see Clemente become a grad assistant. If Hill leaves, we can save some money on the assistants. Don't get me wrong I want Hill to stay, but if given a choice I would choose Brad.

I don't think Brad is going to leave any time soon. Honestly I could see Brad becoming Head Coach if/when Martin leaves.

Who becomes our top recruiter? and who would you go get to replace him? I'm thinking we get a former player or someone of the like.

This is great timing.  Clear out everyone who isn't 100% K-State.  Got the players out, got everything cleaned up ready to continue to build.  Now... Another good time since Martin is laying around healing up his knee.  He can do a crap load of work on getting a replacement with his mind away from recruiting.  However, I have split feelings on the leave.  When Lynch and I went to a practice and talked with some players, Hill doesn't do much of the on campus development work.  He is purely recruiting, and after our recent (non AA type guys) recruiting, he hasn't been doing that either.  So as long as this doesn't hurt our chances with Ellis next year, then we are fine.

Also think about all the money we will be saving now!

Any way they could just give Martin the extra cash?

Hill was a pretty good recruiter, this is a fact, but honestly I think we all know this isn't a big loss. This is a great opportunity for K-State to bring in someone who is more involved and contributes in a more comprehensive manner, than just sitting on the bench and being the guys friends.

The practice I attended Hill doesn't do much actual coaching. And talking with a few former players they agree that his loss will not effect our game plans/practices. Frank and Brad are the XandO guys. Hill was an in home guy that didn't do that great last year, so you are right not a huge loss.

Not much info out there on Hill's replacement.  I heard the promotion of Lamont Evans (http://kstatesports.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/evans_lamont00.html), who is Frank's grad assistant, as a possibility.  Apparently his strengths are player development and has strong recruiting ties in Florida.  His current primary duties include film breakdown (see Erik Spoelstra).

I wouldn't be opposed to it, maybe add Clemente as a grad assistant if they do that

I had read he and Colon were going to be on campus working out with the team. Has he been spotted or is there more to your comment

No nothing to my comment. More of a demand than a statement of fact.

According to GoPo.....

The ink hasn't dried on the contract and Kansas State is yet to put out an official release concerning his hire, but none of that has stopped recently promoted assistant coach Lamont Evans from beginning work. The newest member of head coach Frank Martin's staff has wasted no time spreading his wings on the ...
