“Moving the Iowa State game to the first weekend in December presents us with several opportunities,” said Athletics Director John Currie. “Not only will this date enhance our television exposure for Big 12 football, but it also affords our team with an additional bye week during the regular season.”

The contest will also be advantageous to K-State fans and students as K-State continues to provide the best fan experience in the Big 12.

“Shifting the contest away from Thanksgiving weekend will allow more fans and students the opportunity to attend the ballgame, while being able to finalize gameday details in advance is beneficial as our fans begin to make plans to be in Manhattan,” Currie added

I think I am starting to like Currie more and more. This AD actually understands what it takes to be successfull. TV Exposure + Butts in the seats + $$$ for Facilities = Success

As an alum from a school that has basically used this equation over the last few years, I have to agree with most of it.  We are setting a school record for most TV appearances this year I believe.  Attendance, though not sold out, is starting to rise and the suites are starting to fill up.  And of course, none of it was possible without Boone's money to get a major upgrade to the facilities, which could be 2nd in the Big 12 to Texas at this point.

I think a lot of OSU's success comes from the coaching staff, too.  To me, they have to be some of the top talent evaluators in the country.  Seems like we never have a high profile recruit come to town, but by the time the coaching staff is done with them, we have a Dez Bryant (4 stars), Justin Blackmon (3 stars), or Kendall Hunter (3 stars).

I also think it involves quite a bit of luck from time to time, too.

Although we don't have Boone. I give Currie credit for going out of his way to get many individuals to begin to give big bucks. the Berney family donated $5 Million (2.5 to the Basketball Training Facility and 2.5 to the new Welcome Center). This is just a single case, but I remember each game a I went to last year (only a few) there was always some kind of large ~$1 Million check presentation during the game. This is a good sign for the effort the Administration is putting into fundraising. If you don't follow Schultz on twitter I suggest you do. He is constantly traveling the country meeting with Wildcats OUTSIDE the state of Kansas and is on the coasts a lot! This is something Wefald hardly ever did. The K-State Alumni with money are sadly not in KS (I can speak for myself the other admin of this board and the above mentioned Berney). As long as I don't hear about money laundering and see continued success with student enrollment and sports I am fully behind this Administration.
