The Aggies went 30-3 (15-1) with a win at St. Mary's and losses at BYU and at Georgetown. The Aggies return 4 starters from last season (a squad that posted a 27-8 overall record, including a 14-2 mark in the WAC). The Aggies were projected to win the WAC.
The Aggies are lead by F Tai Wesley and G's Brockeith Pane and Brian Green. Wesley is averaging 15 points/game (leads the team), 8 rebounds/game (leads the team) and 2 assists/game. Wesley is a first-team All-WAC performer who has done everything asked of him since landing in Logan, Utah. Last year, Wesley finished fourth in the WAC in field-goal percentage, fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio, sixth in blocked shots, 10th in rebounding, 11th in assists, 13th in scoring and 15th in free-throw percentage. Wesley is the only player in school history to produce 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 200 assists and 100 blocks.
Pane is averaging 12 points/game, 3 rebounds/game and 3 assists/game (co leads the team with G Tyler Newbold). Pane is a 6'2" JUCO transfer who averaged 12 points and 3 assists at Midland Junior College in Texas.
Green is averaging 11 points/game, 2 rebounds/game and 2 assists/game. Green was on the league's all-newcomer team last season. He was tops in the league in three-point shooting, hitting a staggering 50 percent.
G Newbold is averaging 7 points/game, 4 rebounds/game and 3 assists/game (co leads the team with Pane). Newbold averaged 3 assists last year and is counted on to distribute the basketball.
Utah State brings eight proven letter winners to the table with seven recruits to blend into the mix. Head coach Stew Morrill wins EVERY year and has won EVERYWHERE he has been. This is NOT the type of opponent I thought that the Cats would draw in the First Round of the Tournament before the season started. That being said.....I think we can, and will, win this game mainly because of Curtis Kelly. He MUST bring it for the Cats.

This game is terrifying. Playing a team that isn't familiar with losing is always tough.
-
Not liking this match up as much. According to the CJOnline, Utah State feels it is seeded too low and has a chip on its shoulder. A 5-12 game... dangerous.
-
Game is at 8:57 pm (central). The good news... Kevin Harlan and Reggie Miller are calling the game which I think is a great broadcast team. Heard that it will be televised on TruTV, but haven't confirmed.

From ESPN: 9:57 PM (12) Utah State vs. (5) Kansas State* truTV Tickets

ESPN is predicting a 40.2% chance of an upset?!?
-
What is a chance of an upset? Is that the same as them saying there is a 59.8% chance we will win?
-
Someone take Tai Wesley's knees out so we can up that percentage to 80% :D

Only K-State and Texas A&M have teams in both Men's and Women's NCAA Tournament Plus participated in a Bowl game during Football.

Utah State is 6-21 (.222) in its NCAA tournament history. Its 19 appearances are the most of any member of the Western Athletic Conference. In recent years, the team has won invitations to the tournament in 1998 (under coach Larry Eustachy), 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2010 (all under Morrill). Prior to 2006, all of these invitations were a result of winning the Big West Conference tournament. In both 2006 and 2010, the Aggies received an at-large bid to the tournament after losing in the WAC tournament championship game. Despite a stellar season in 2003–2004 and a national top-25 ranking toward the end of the season, the Aggies did not receive an at-large tournament bid after being upset in the conference tournament, making them the first top-25 team in college basketball history to be snubbed from the tournament. This decision earned the derision of coach Morrill, as the Aggies held a 25-3 record along with their ranking.
In 2009, USU won the WAC tournament championship game, defeating Nevada in Reno. The team went on to lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Marquette, 58-57. The most recent NCAA Tournament success was a first-round upset over fifth-seeded Ohio State University in 2001.[6]
The 2010 team received an at-large bid from the selection committee after losing in the WAC tournament final to New Mexico State. The 12th-seeded Aggies then lost their opening round game to Texas A&M.

Lynch - I was looking at those too and was thinking about posting them..
Utah St. lost both times when it counted in there season to Georgetown and BYU so I am pumped to mark that fourth loss for them :) They get to see how the real teams play! EMAW!
-
I would think that CBS would carry the game locally. Maybe it's on TruTV elsewhere?
-
This is bad, real bad.
-
I've got TruTV so it doesn't bother me
-
Yeah you have to have the 250 channel package on Dish network to get it. I will def be at BWW to view this game :)
