Well, ladies and gentlemen, it is officially time for the most wonderful time of the year. I know we love the NCAA Tournament but I can argue that Championship Week is more fun because as you watch games from all over the country you have to wonder how their result can impact other teams from around the country. Sweet!! This is the week I put time in watching the teams I haven't seen all year to gauge success in the Big Dance.
-
The fun starts tomorrow as the Atlantic Sun, Big South and Ohio Valley will be handing out their automatic bids. The favorites are Belmont (Atlantic Sun), Coastal Carolina (Big South) and Murray State (Ohio Valley).
-
Someone's Bubble could, and probably will, be burst when the WCC Tournament takes place between now and Monday.
Also, Bubble teams rejoiced when Missouri State held on to beat S. Illinois earlier this afternoon.
-
Tennessee Tech upsets Murray State. No Bubble impact but Murray State is headed to the NIT.
-
What a horrible game. Glad they are going NIT
-
One automatic bid down and it looks like one more is all but over
-
Indiana State wins the MVC. Does Missouri State get an at large bid? Also, I think that there is going to be a bid stealer in the CAA because George Mason lost.

ESPN has them as one of the last for out. They were horrrible versus RPI top 100 teams and will probably be playing in the NIT.

Yeah. You're right!

We've got 4 more Championship games tonight. CAA Tournament Final (ODU vs. VCU), WCC Tournament Final (St. Mary's vs. Gonzaga), MAAC Tournament Final (Iona vs. St. Peter's) and Southern Conference Tournament Final (College of Charleston vs. Wofford). I've listed the favorites as the first team in the pairing.
-
Today we've got the Horizon League Championship (UW-Milwaukee vs. Butler) if Milwaukee wins I think both teams get in, Summit League Championship (Oakland vs. Oral Roberts) and the Sun Belt Championship (North Texas - Arkansas Little Rock). Also the big boys start today with the Big East Tournament that just started. Marquette is the lone Bubble team to watch in the Big East.

Big 12
Kansas City, Mo.
1. Kansas is one of the hottest teams in the country right now, but the Jayhawks may have the hardest time winning their conference tournament. A possible semifinal against Kansas State looms, and then KU might need to figure out Texas in the title game.
2. All the bubble talk surrounds the first day, but it's hard to see how Nebraska (Oklahoma State), Colorado (Iowa State) and Baylor (Oklahoma) can get a bid with just one win in the conference tournament. The key day will likely be Thursday.
3. The rematches that might occur Thursday should be just as entertaining as the earlier meetings. Texas A&M-Missouri and Colorado-Kansas State played two of the better games this season in the Big 12.
4. This is a major week for Texas. The Longhorns returned to their winning ways at Baylor. They defended, scored when needed and looked like a team ready to challenge for a title again. Win this tournament and a No. 1 seed is within reach.
5. The most intriguing player in the tournament is Jacob Pullen of Kansas State. Pullen was a preseason first-team All-American. He has the ability to carry Kansas State far in Kansas City and in the NCAA tournament now that he's playing up to potential.
Can't stop mentioning the Cats!
-
Yeah talking about the cats has never favored us in the past :typical:
-
Rutgers just got HOSED!
:palm:

Oklahoma State Season 4: Welcome to the NIT...
-
Even though the purpose of this thread has been forgotten I thought I'd stop by and give an update anyway. In my opinion there are only 21 spots left in the Field of 68.
-
Looks like UC-Riverside and our ole buddy Jim Wooldridge is in the Big West Conference Semifinals tonight vs. Cal State Northridge. The game can be seen on ESPNU.
-
Ill only watch if he has a neck brace.

I can't believe we're still in our conference tournament and the Wildcats aren't.
-
Actually Jimmy Elgas is at Utah and take it for what it's worth but Riverside is 12-18 (6-10)!
-
Updating my math.....We have 14 automatic bids in and 35 teams that I consider "locks" right now. That means that there are 19 spots left in my Field of 68. With 13 Championship games today there will be no more than 6 spots, depending on what happens with Bubble teams today, left to be decided tomorrow.
-
Should be a good selection
-
I forgot the Ivy League that doesn't have a conference tournament so it's actually 14 spots that will be determined today with no more than 5 spots left going into tomorrow.
-
Something happened and my thread has been ruined so I guess you can go ahead and delete it for me
:ksuftw:
-
What are you talking about? LoL
-
All of my information is gone
:fitzed:
Nevermind! I got it back!
-
Updating the math:
68 spots - 17 Automatic Bids = 51 spots left
51 spots left - 35 teams that are considered "locks" = 16 spots left

Dont modify your posts. Working out the problem.

Alright. Let me know.

Any of these unexpected

Any of these unexpected
Not particularly. Any news on the modify feature?
-
At a wedding tonight. Posted a question at smf hopefully they can tell me whats wrong.
-
Now that the modifications are working again I've gone through and edited out some of my garbage messages in this thread to clean it up a little bit. Going into Selection Sunday it would appear that the only games that have any impact on the Bracket are the A-10 Championship game at 12:00 and the Big 10 Championship game at 2:30.
Doing the math I still have 7 teams (St. Mary's, Clemson, Virginia Tech, USC, Alabama, Georgia and Boston College) in contention for 4 spots. I think USC specifically is praying for a Dayton loss today. Richmond is going to get in, so Bubble teams don't want Dayton stealing another bid.
In the Big 10.....They're going to get 3 for sure (Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin). If Penn State wins today that's obviously 4. Then there's Michigan State, Illinois and Michigan who I think all have legit arguments to get in. Could it be 7 from the Big 10?
-
Just remember to copy before you edit until I get the new theme up and going.
-
I have the entire Field of 68 outlined as of right now. There shouldn't be any surprises when they unveil the official field starting in the next 10 minutes.
-
Is there a groundswell of support for me starting a new one of these threads since Championship Week starts today? I'll let you give me your input and I'll decide by the end of the day.
-
cf,
Let's start a new thread and call it something like 'Championship Week 2012'.
Thanks !

That's what I was leaning towards
