Title: the Canadian
Post by: Felis Silvestris on January 04, 2011, 12:34:39 PM
Do you think Juevol Myles has played his way into the rotation (not necessarily a starter) for Big12 competition?  I like what he brings to the table, but needs some more time in the system to refine his skills.

He can shoot the ball and runs the offense as well as anyone else right now.  Love his quickness, which is something Spradling lacks.  Just needs to get a little more JYC on defense and make better decisions when driving to the basket.

Determines what you consider our rotation.  I think he has no doubt played his way into a position to come off the bench when we get guard foul trouble.  Which in the big 12 slate, could happen quite a bit.  But other then that, I don't see him as our core rotation getting solid minutes.

And he does shoot free throws well...

We need a guard with some quickness. Right now a major weakness for us is absolutely zero threat of a guard driving hard in the lane to make a layup. Erving killed us with this move, and it's something I haven't seen out of our team yet. Pullen will drive but ops for the fade away jumper or the runner and in Big 12 play the runner will get him with a charge.

Yeah, I love Sprads but that is the one major component he lacks.  And it was a true strength of Denis that made our offense what it is (was).

As we've debated endlessly, I want to see Pullen solely as a shooting guard.  I really think Juevol is working towards getting some pivotal minutes at the point, but I imagine Sprads will still get the bulk of the workload with Martavious helping out when needed.
