Title: Syracuse
Post by: Lynch on December 03, 2010, 11:14:25 AM
Ok. Let the fun begin!

Syracuse went 7-5 in the regular season with a 4-3 record in the Big East. There last game was a loss to Boston College who is also 7-5 4-4 in ACC. Most notable win was against #20 West Virginia.

I will let CatFan do the forum preview and I'm sure Wes will have his take on the game as well.

I haven't done a football preview all season. I hope I remember how!

Ya, this was expected and I was hoping so.  I am saving $$ for some bball tourny games this year and if there was a bowl I would be less interested in, it would be an outside one.  However, the uniqueness of this bowl at Yankee Stadium can nearly eliminate the pain of cold weather, but of course to simulate the game at home, I will have plenty of queso and  :Drink: to go around.

Another reason I was hoping for this game, simply put, Syracuse is very beatable.  The big east is down big time this year.  WV supposedly is the best team in the conference and they managed 8 wins.

Let me breakdown the past 4 games for the cuse:
11.5 avg points scored
7 turnovers
258.5 avg total yards
172.5 avg rushing yards allowed
Nassib (their qb) has 1 passing TD
They are lacking a top RB and have KSU avg style receivers
Their defense in my opinion looks good on paper, but against below avg opponents

Should we win, no question about it.  Probably finish the game looking at each other wondering why they didn't play like that all year.

Cosh (I've decided that he is our defense and it's not our players fault for anything now) will give up >450 yards to Syracuse, and their RB/QB will probably break some kind of rushing record. They will easily set the yardage record for the Pin Stripe bowl.lol.

We will win, but defense will be on par for the season.

Glad you reminded me of this, I have meant to start a topic about it.  How many schools/players broke records against our defense this year????????

Guess is 7 school records, 4 individual records   :64-0:  :cutyou:  :typical:  :ksuftw:  :fitzed:

Since this will be a def home game for the orange I am thinking a KSU meltdown is heading our way in breakdown on defense and lack of offense production. I am mentally preparing for it.

Syracuse punter is out with a benign brain tumor. He was the 2nd best punter in school history.

Sad news.  Best wishes.  How does this affect the game.  Just look at the OSU game.  Their punter won it for them.

Well considering the nations best PR (Powell) will be out and now one of the nations best Punters is out it may be a wash.

Is Powell not being available for the bowl game official?  What about Broderick Smith or Tremaine Thompson?
